The Goshen Farm Preservation Society announces its annual kayak raffle to support Goshen Farm! This year we are raffling off two beautiful Emotion Spitfire 9 kayaks – a $940 retail value. Tickets are $5 each, and we’re selling a total of 600, so your chances of winning are great! The drawing will be held when all tickets are sold, which in past years has been late July/early August.

Tickets are available for purchase at TNT Hair Salon in the Cape St. Claire shopping center, as well as from Goshen Farm board members. You can also stop by the Goshen Farm booth at the Cape St. Claire Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 1, from 10 AM to 6 PM to purchase tickets and see the kayaks – we’ll have them on display all day! Thanks to Ski Haus and Minuteman Press of Glen Burnie for supporting this year’s raffle.

]]> http://goshenfarm.org/2013/05/4th-annual-kayak-raffle/feed/ 0 2013 Open House http://goshenfarm.org/2013/04/2013-open-house/ http://goshenfarm.org/2013/04/2013-open-house/#comments Mon, 22 Apr 2013 19:31:02 +0000 Goshen Farm http://goshenfarm.org/?p=1041 On Saturday, April 20th we held our first Spring Open House and Garden Party  at the farm.  With the help of the Boy Scouts we filled two lots with visitors cars.  The gardeners were busy displaying their plots.  There were crafts for the kids.  Guests were able to walk the 11 point trail, peek inside the front door of the house,  watch the slide show and see the artifacts that have been found so far.  The CSC Garden Club was raffling off and taking orders for May Day baskets, and Rain Barrel sales to benefit the farm.  We gained five new members, and sold books,t-shirts and kayak raffle tickets.  We met many new and long-time members as well as new neighbors in our community.  Refreshments were donated by members and not a crumb was left at the end and a good time was had by all.

A lot of work was done by this group of volunteers.  You all did a great job!

A fundraiser to support Goshen Farm Preservation Societymayday001Please join us in celebrating spring’s arrival in a time-honored tradition: hanging a May Day arrangement at your home. Arrangements from small to large, $5-$30. Arranged in advance for you, or you can bring the kids and arrange your own! Great for teacher appreciation week, a gift for a colleague or neighbor, or an early mother’s day bouquet. All proceeds will benefit Goshen Farm’s preservation efforts right here in our own neighborhood.

We hope to have a sample hanging on the doors of the house at our Open House on Saturday, April 20th.
Please contact Barbara Morgan if you would be interested in purchasing arrangements like these, or if you’d like to volunteer to help. Anyone who would be willing to send pre-payment for their arrangements would assist us greatly, so we have funds for purchasing flowers for the fundraiser.
Also, we are seeking donations of vases, baskets, decorative glassware, glasses, bowls, large ramekins, goblets, wine glasses, containers of all sizes. Ribbon and floral foam donations would also be greatly appreciated. It was our best turnout so far. All of the tables were full. We had some great door prizes, did a little schmoozing, ate till we were full and even had a few dancers! Our next event will be an Open House at the Farm on April 20th with a rain date of April 21. More info to come.

The event will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Cape St. Claire Clubhouse, 1223 River Bay Road, Annapolis, MD 21409. This event is free and open to the public.

The Goshen Farm Preservation Society holds several fundraisers each year, including Java & Jazz. This Sunday afternoon event features jazz music provided by The Jazz Perpetrators, a group of talented local musicians who perform regularly in the Annapolis and central Maryland area. The tantalizing menu of hors d’oeuvres and sweets is provided by Culinary Art, owned by Art Lewis, a local chef and caterer. Guests will be able to learn more about history of the property and the restoration plans, catch up on the Society’s efforts, and find out how they can become a part of preserving local history. Admission is free but donations are encouraged.
